RoCo meets a local politician, gaining an understanding of who’s running this locale.

Del. Jen Terrasa (D-13) on A Political Threshold

When we sat down to chat about her political history and her political future–not to mention her political present!–at RoCo’s RV, Jen Terrasa (D-13) told me that she had a vision, if you will, of the house that sits just beyond where our vehicular home is currently parked. “Colleen, for whatever reason, it looks like there’s a pond or a lake in the backyard. Is there?” she asked me, her head resting on a hand propped up by the couch we sat on. I told her there wasn’t, that it was a gently rolling stretch of grass. I thought, though, … Read more

Getting to Know Liz Bobo, Local Democratic Politics Luminary

Liz Bobo, dear readers, has underwear glasses. Now that I have your attention, allow me to explain. I went over to see her at her house the other day to chat about her political career. She offered me water in the most adorable drinking glasses  made from a thick, wavy glass with a (Democratic?) blue rim. She said that on the way to the airport to come home from Mexico, she and her husband, Lloyd Knowles saw these and bought them. They needed to pack them with care at the last minute, and they had no choice but to wrap … Read more

A Sip and a Bite With Del. Frank Turner on The Promise Maryland Scholarship

Aah–there I was again: what’s turning out to be my and Robert’s office, basically, The Bagel Bin in River Hill Village Center. I had just attended dance cardio class at The Columbia Gym, so those happy chemicals were Zumba-ing through my veins as it was, and the hint of sunshine outside was like a merciful gift from the Heavens after days of rain. I wiped some sesame seeds off a table by the door and sat down to wait for my partner-in-snack, Delegate Frank Turner (D-13), a Democrat who’s represented District 13–50 percent of HoCo–in the state legislature for 24 … Read more

Delegate Eric Ebersole–Educator, Legislator, Esprit de Corps

We met Eric Ebersole, one of three Democratic State Delegates representing Maryland’s District 12 in the state’s bicameral legislature, at State Senator Guy Guzzone’s pizza party this past June. We both found we clicked with him immediately and liked him so much that we argued on the way back to our RV after Guzzone’s shindig about who he liked better: “Well, he laughed even harder when I said…Yeah, but, he went and got me another slice of pizza after I…oh, my god–you missed our exit!” In order to establish and maintain peace in our vehicular home, we decided to both pen … Read more

Guy Guzzone–Blue, Green, and Lots of Colors In Between

Robert and I told our friends, PaCy (Paul and Lucy Steinberg), over what may have been a too-strong cup of coffee at the bakery in Greenspring Atrium that we wanted to know more about the neighboring county, Howard’s, politics as we consider making the area our new home. Lucy barely missed a beat as she put down her cup and said, “You have to talk to Guy Guzzone.” I repeated his name back to her, relishing its delightful, Italian-English prosody as I said I’d call his office the next day. I did some research on Guzzone and found that he’s … Read more
